Cyclone Alfred Financial Assistance
In light of the recent impact of Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the Government has announced financial assistance available for those affected.
Federal Government
Federal Government has announced the following financial assistance:
Disaster Recovery Payment – this is a one-off payment of $1,000 per adult and $400 per child for people who've been badly affected by the disaster and need immediate help, need that immediate assistance.
Disaster Recovery Allowance – this is a short-term payment, for up to 13 weeks, for eligible Australian residents and specified visa holders, 16 years or older who can show a declared disaster has directly affected their income.

State Government
Queensland Government has announced the following personal hardship financial assistance:
Emergency Hardship Assistance – this is a one-off payment of $180 for individuals and up to $900 for families of 5 or more to help with essential needs, food, medication, clothing and temporary accommodation
Essential Services Hardship Assistance – this is a one-off payment of $150 for individuals and up to $750 for families of 5 or more to help with essential services such as, power, gas, water, and sewage.
This grant is available if you have lost 1 or more essential services for more than 5 days and are experiencing personal hardship as a result
Essential Household Content Grant - this is a one-off payment of $1,765 for individuals and up to $5,300 for couples or families to help replace essential lose household contents such as bed linen and white goods.
Essential Services Safety and Reconnection scheme – this help with safety inspections and repairs to reconnect essential services, e.g. gas, water, electricity and sewage. The grant amount is $200 for inspection cost and $4,200 for repairs or replacement of these services.
Structural Assistance Grant – this is to help with structural repairs or contribution towards replacement of dwelling. Uninsured, low income, owner-occupiers may receive up to a maximum of $80,000 to help repair your home to make it safe, secure and habitable.
